READING, PA - Stevenson Men's Hockey traveled to Alvernia University tonight for game two of their UCHC and MAC series. After last night's 4-1 loss at home, the Mustangs battled back to a 5-3 win over the Golden Wolves in their own arena.
Stevenson would score first in tonight's contest thanks to first year Rhett Evjen for his third of the season. The power-play goal was assisted by junior Kyle Lightfoot for his first point of the year and sophomore Blake Benson for his fourth assist, also extending his point streak to three games.
Alvernia would score the equalizer late in the first before scoring once more to start the second period on the Mustang penalt kill.
Behind heading into the third, Frank Vitucci would even the score on the power-play with the first goal of his senior campaign. Assists were credited to sophomore Jack Karlsson and classmate Zach Bannister. Karlsson's assist marks his first point of the season while Bannister's makes two.
The Mustangs continued to roll with the momentum, scoring yet again on the power-play just one minute later. Junior Liam McCanney netted his third goal of the season via Karlsson and Bannister once more.
Bannister would cap off his night by scoring the Mustangs' fourth goal for his third point of the game to put him at five on the season. Benson would add his second assist of the night while Evjen notched his first collegiate assist in the effort.
Stevenson's fifth and final goal went to junior Jake Roberts for his first of the season. First year Dylan Narduzzi recorded his first collegiate point in the effort while senior Zach Ebger notched his first assist and second point of the season.
In net, sophomore Ford DeLoss earned his first collegiate win, making 25 saves in the process.
With the win, the Mustangs improve to 3-2-1 overall, 1-2-1 in UCHC play, and 1-1 in the MAC. Stevenson returns home to the Reisterstown Sportsplex for a full series against Manhattanville College on Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th, at 7 and 3 p.m., respectively.
