READING, PA - The No. 1 Utica University men's hockey team kept its perfect UCHC record intact with a 6-0 win over the Alvernia University Golden Wolves on Friday evening.
Justin Allen registered two points on the night with one goal and an assist to become the seventh player in program history to reach 100 career points while being the first defenseman to do so. He is also the third Pioneer to record their 100th career point this season.
Lucas Herrmann led Utica with a hat trick in the win, the first multi-goal game of his Utica career, while Allen, Connor Fedorek, and Buster Larsson each had one. Mic Curran contributed three assists in the win while Jayson Dobay and Dante Zapata had a pair each.
In goal, Bryan Landsberger recorded 23 saves en route to the shutout win.
Although it was a slow start for the team's standards, Allen put the Pioneers on the board with a first period goal at 11:24 for an early 1-0 lead. Kimball Johnson and Zapata assisted on the goal which was one of 15 first period shots.
Utica caught first in the second period with three goals to take a convincing 4-0 lead by the end of the period. Fedorek put one home at 3:45 while Herrmann netted two of his three goals at 14:49 and 18:00.
In the third, Larsson scored at 8:20 on one of three Utica power plays in the frame while Herrmann put the finishing touches on at 17:34 by way of a short-handed goal for the hat trick.
Landsberger made a personal game-high 10 saves in the third period as well to ensure his fourth shutout of his 2022-23 campaign.
The Pioneers also went on to finish the game without committing a single penalty.
No. 1 Utica (19-2-1, 17-0-0 UCHC) and Alvernia meet again at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
