Men's Hockey Picks Up Convincing 5-2 Win at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, NY – The Nazareth men's hockey team started off its first conference game of 2024 on the right foot, downing Manhattanville 5-2 on Friday night. Four different goal scorers found the back of the net, including Logan Tobias netting two. Harrison Dumas scored his first goal of the season and freshman Daisuke Egusa scored his first collegiate goal on an empty net late in the game.
 
Nazareth moves to 3-9-2 overall and 2-5-2 in UCHC play with the win, while Manhattanville drops to 4-12 and 4-7, respectively.
 
Three goals were scored over a three-minute span in the opening period, the first two coming from the visiting Golden Flyers. 
 
The scoring opened at the 7:16 mark when Anthony Quinlivan found a slashing Dumas in front of the net for a one-timer over the goaltender's shoulder.
 
Just over a minute and a half later, Tobias notched his first of the game. He collected the puck in between four defenders down the middle of the ice and rifled a shot into the net to make it 2-0.
 
Shortly after the Valiants scored their first of the day to pull within 2-1.
 
With the score remaining that way into the second period, Nazareth made good on a power play to make it 3-1 with 18:17 on the clock. The Golden Flyers strung together some nice passes before Liam Beaudoin fired from the point a well-placed shot. Anthony Quinlivan and Josh Dressler got assists on the play.
 
Trailing by two goals late in the game, Manhattanville pulled the goalie before Egusa notched the empty net goal.
 
Manhattanvillle scored one more goal with 1:23 to play before Tobias capped the scoring on the empty net with :31 left.
 
Raphael Provencher made 32 stops in net. 
 
Nazareth and Manhattanville return to action on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest.
