UCHC Commissioner Chuck Mitrano Begins Term as NCAA Division III Championships Committee Chairperson

United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Commissioner Chuck Mitrano officially began his term as Chairperson of the NCAA Division III Championships Committee Saturday at the conclusion of the 2022 NCAA Convention. Mitrano, who has served on the Championship Committee since 2020, will serve as committee chair through January 2024.

“I am honored to serve as chair of the NCAA Championships Committee during this critical time in our history,” said Mitrano, who has led the UCHC since its inception in 2017. “I look forward to engaging NCAA staff, fellow Championships Committee members and the DIII membership on many important issues moving forward to enhance the experiences of so many exceptional student-athletes.”

Mitrano will serve as Championships Committee Chairperson during the historic revision of the Division III Constitution, which will in part determine spending priorities and enhancements for championships participation and experience. The Championships Committee handles oversight of all 28 Division III championships. The committee also supervises the qualification and selection process for the NCAA’s largest division; makes championship policy and reviews recommendations from sports committees regarding the administration of those championships amongst other duties.

Mitrano is also Commissioner of the Empire 8 Conference and the United Volleyball Conference (UVC). He has served on several regional and national committees, is a respected national speaker on Sportsmanship & Leadership and received numerous national honors.
