UCHC Announces 2021-22 Women’s Award Winners and All-Conference Selections

Utica's Georgiana Santullo named Player of the Year; Four Pioneers Earn First Team Accolades

The United Collegiate Hockey Conference announced its 2021-22 Women’s Award Winners and All-Conference teams on Tuesday, March 1. The awards were selected through an all-encompassing survey of the league’s 11 head coaches.

Senior Georgiana Santullo of Utica College was named the 2021-22 UCHC Player of the Year after a dazzling campaign in which she has recorded a program-record 55 points on 29 goals and 26 assists. Santullo is tied for the national lead in goals and is second overall in points. She tallied 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points and was plus-43 in 19 UCHC regular season contests. Santullo recorded three consecutive hat-tricks to open UCHC play and has 13 multiple-point efforts. She is the first Utica student-athlete to earn Player of the Year honors.

Ally Nolan of Chatham University was named the 2022 UCHC Rookie of the Year after tallying 38 points on 22 goals and 16 assists in 26 games played. Nolan is eighth nationally in goals per game (0.86) and tallied 16 goals and 29 points in 20 UCHC regular season contests, while helping lead the Cougars to the league semifinals. She is the second consecutive Rookie of the Year from Chatham, joining teammate Allison Corser-James.

Utica sophomore Angela Hawthorne was named the 2021-22 UCHC Goaltender of the Year after going 14-3-0 with a 1.22 goals against average and a .942 save percentage to go along with five shutouts. She made at least 20 saves in a game six times, including a career-best 49-save effort against Nazareth.

Manhattanville College junior forward Morgan Miller was named the UCHC’s Defensive Player of the Year. Miller has tallied 17 goals in 25 games this season, while playing at a plus-17 clip. A tremendous penalty-killer, Miller is tied for the national lead with five shorthanded goals and has added four-game winning goals to go along with 25 blocked shots. She has helped lead Manhattanville to the 2021-22 UCHC Championship game.

Nazareth head coach Chris Baudo is the 2021-22 UCHC Coach of the Year. Baudo has led the Golden Flyers to a 26-1-0 record and the UCHC regular season crown. Nazareth earned 59 of a possible 60 points in league play and are set to host Manhattanville in the 2021-22 UCHC Championship game on March 5. Nazareth leads all of Division III with 26 wins and paces the country by out-scoring its opponents by an average of 4.70 goals per game. The Golden Flyers are in the top-five nationally in nearly every team category. It is Baudo’s second UCHC Coach of the Year honor (2018-19). He has led the Golden Flyers to a 71-13-5 record in four seasons.

All six UCHC first team all-stars are first time selections on the top team. Utica led the way with four first team selections (Santullo, Hawthorne, Erica Sloan and Madison Novotny), while Sydney Bradley of Alvernia University and Abbey Luth of Nazareth also garnered first team accolades. The Golden Flyers added four second team selections and two honorable mention picks for a league-high seven all-conference selections.
